In order to enforce the Council’s data storage policy and make the most efficient use of data storage, user’s Home drives (H: Drives) are being re-organised.

A significant part of this H: Drive data has been shown to comprise music, video and certain types of image files. Some of this may not be work-related and users are therefore requested to delete any files which are not essential or non-work related before the 21st October.
Please refer to the Council’s Staff Data Storage Policy — http://XXXXXXX/index.cfm?articleid=11441 – for advice on what should be stored on the Council’s ICT systems.

In accordance with the Data Storage Policy, no music, video, executable or system files will be migrated and neither will certain types of image file (these include – .bmp, .tif, .tiff).

Should you as a user subsequently find that some of these file types are required, you should discuss this with your BSO – Darren Richards – who can arrange for them to be copied over. Alternatively contact Dave 3v@ns on Tel: XX (XXXX)

Please be assured that as part of the migration, a copy of all files will be retained for 1 month from the date of your move.

This process has already been applied successfully to a number of service units, so I trust that you will appreciate the need to manage data storage capacity for the benefit of all users.

Kind regards,
